Duchesse De Bourgogne

Flandern Brown / Oud Bruin by Brouwerij Verhaeghe

The Duchesse de Bourgogne is a truly royal brew, originating from the Belgian brewery Verhaeghe. The exquisite beer creation is brewed with taste-intensive roasted malts and highly aromatic hop varieties and is stored in oak barrels for several months after completion. The oak wood gives the beer its unique character and helps it to achieve its full splendour. Verhaeghe's Duchesse flows into the glass in a noble shade of chestnut and shines wonderfully in all facets of ruby red. A slightly tinted foam crowns the beer and exudes a fine scent that is vaguely reminiscent of heavy red wine. Intense notes of red fruits and a spicy touch of vanilla complete the overall olfactory impression. The first drink presents a voluminous beer with sparkling carbonic acid and diverse taste nuances. Notes of red grapes, dried dark fruits and spicy oak caress the palate. A fine acidity accompanies the overwhelmingly intense play of aromas and gives the beer a certain lightness. Soft caramel notes and a hint of apple complement the aromas elegantly. The finish is crisp sour and to the point. The full aroma of the beer unfolds at an optimal drinking temperature of eight to twelve degrees. A bulbous goblet also ensures that all flavor nuances come into play and that the individual notes reach the right receptors in the mouth. With a beer as complex and intense as the Duchesse de Bourgogne, the preparation is always worthwhile.
